For so many reasons March is just a crazy month.

Of course, basketball’s March Madness is in full bloom. But that’s not all.

Spring break seems to take over the entire month. And when you live in South Florida like I do, you tend to feel the effect even more.

Everywhere I look there are hordes of scantily clad teenagers blaring music.

Don’t get me wrong; I love teenagers. After all I have three of my own. But sometimes you just want to get in and out of the supermarket quickly :

Then there are those emails. When every email you receive reminds you that the first quarter of the year is coming to an end and asks if your business is on track.

And, of course, who can forget that everyone and their mother are asking about your diet, “How’s that going?”

ENOUGH!

April is in full swing – let’s celebrate it.

April is just the perfect month for new beginnings.

Spring is starting, the sun is showing its beautiful face, snow is melting and moods are lifting.

In order to really rejoice in April, I am going to some share special reasons and true facts about this month you probably didn’t know. I bet they boost your spirits.

Five Special Reasons to Love the Month of April

Special Reason #1: April Is Named for Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of Love. That officially makes April, Love month. (And everyone thought it was February – surprise, surprise!)

Special Reason #2: April’s Honorary Flowers are Daisies and Sweet Peas. Two flowers signify the month of April: the daisy and the sweet pea. The daisy symbolizes innocence, loyal love, and purity, and the sweat pea signifies blissful pleasure.

Special Reason #3: The Diamond Is April’s Birth Stone. Well who doesn’t love diamonds? It’s one of the hardest (and prettiest) natural substances on earth, and one that forms deep in the earth

Special Reason #4: Leonardo da Vinci Was Born in April. On April 15th to be exact. He is one of my heroes. He was an artist and a scholar, a true “Renaissance Man”. I will never forget the first time I stood in front of the Mona Lisa. It literally unleashed an emotion I did not know I had – one of tremendous kinship. (Well that’s a story for another day.)

Special Reason #5: Tax Day. Ok, before you say what the heck, hear me out. Like you, I pay a boatload of taxes each year. But instead of complaining about it, I celebrate it. I celebrate the fact that I make a good living. I celebrate the fact I’m able to give my family a great life. I celebrate that fact that I can make considerable donations and write them off. So yes, I am grateful for Tax Day.
