Today’s audio diary is called To Don’t List.

You know how big I am on having to do list, on having things in front of you that you need to accomplish on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. And that’s really important.

But what we don’t think about sometimes is the to don’t list. To break those habits that maybe we’ve had for years and years, or just a couple of months, but aren’t healthy for us. So, for example, on my to don’t list, it literally says, “Do not buy clothes that don’t fit you,” thinking that you’re going to lose weight and get into them. Now, it doesn’t by any means mean that I’m not going to lose the weight. What it means is that (this has happened to me so many times, see if you can relate to this), by the time you do lose the weight, you’re not as thrilled about the outfit or it doesn’t look quite right. It wasn’t really because it was too small, or maybe it wasn’t the right color, or the right style. So that’s one on my to don’t list.

Another thing on to don’t list would be “Don’t make excuses for your kid if they don’t do well in sports that particular day.” I see this very often with parents when I’m out at softball games with my girls. I see one of their kids just having an off day, and the parents are saying, “Oh my gosh, this isn’t like them. They didn’t sleep last night. They had a sleepover.” Whatever the excuse was, every kid has an off day. When mine does, I certainly don’t make excuses for them. I just make sure that at the end of the day that my kid is okay, and we go on with it. And I also tell them that everybody’s got an off day. That’s how it works.

So make your to don’t list today.
