By MaryEllen Tribby

Recently we have had a successful re-launch of my esteemed program Inbox Empire.  However, this go around we changed things up a bit. Instead of offering a free report as the lead magnet, we chose to offer a free video training instead.

We switched it up for a couple of reasons.  One, some folks may have already received the free report and we wanted to make sure we could reengage them. And two, I feel it is my duty to test different channels and offers. In order for me to be an honorable and effective teacher and mentor, I need to take the risk of testing. And that is exactly what we did.

We received many emails from affiliate partners and students who praised the video and thanked us for the lessons learned from the presentation.

However, we did receive ONE email from a very unhappy affiliate. She hated the video and claims her list did as well.  She sent the email to our launch specialist Jackie.

Please note I did not change one word in this email. Not the spelling, grammar or punctuation. I did however, remove her name and used her initials instead.

Make sure to keep reading after her email . . .

Please keep in mind as you read this infamous email that she sent a second email stating that she believes she should come to Florida and teach us how to produce a video (meaning she wants me as a client) as she claims to be an expert TV producer.

Jackie,

Gotta tell you… the first video ME did was TERRIBLE… and had much of my list saying how can a program be good with poor video and poor sound quality. I finally watched it last night and I was stunned… MaryEllen looks like she’s hiding behind her computer… the sound WAS terrible… she must have used an on-board mic rather than a Lav…. and did she use a teleprompter? She kept looking down as if looking at notes.

ME is so freaking smart and amazing… but I’m stunned she went SO low tech… it’s actually hurt my list belief in me! I had to come back and apologize for it, tell them she is awesome, the program is great but the video sucks.

How in the world when you plan for weeks/months for a big launch can this happen? I actually had friends think I was HACKED! I also had many cry foul and “spam” over the emails… too salesy, too spammy in your face. Just need you to know. C. W.

Here is my response –

Dear C.W.,

Jackie forwarded me your email.

I do want to thank you for the time you took to write to us. And because you did invest the time, I will address your points.

I don’t believe the video presentation was terrible. As a matter of fact we had many folks write in to thank us for it. Now do I believe the presentation was perfect? Of course not.  And frankly I was not striving for perfection. As we all know perfection does not exist and that there will always be people who would rather criticize than learn from the content.

This was the first presentation I have done in this format. And I practice what I preach. I took action. And by doing so, I was able to add value to my community.  And I am confident that each time I embark on this channel, the quality will be exponentially better.

And by the way, it I did use a LAV microphone as we have the exact equipment set up that Brendon Burchard recommended, including the lights, camera and microphone.

I also do not believe you had folks say this video was spammy or salesy because it wasn’t as all. When Jackie inquired about your list size you simply do not respond. In my experience that means your list is small to nonexistent.

I do believe you wrote this email to get in the door by trying to prove you are an expert video producer. But looking you up on Google and Facebook, there is nothing to verify your credentials.

I will wish you well.

Cheers,
ME

Now after I read the email from CW, I read this one from Julianne:

Before the night is over, I just wanted to tell you how humbled and blessed I am for this opportunity to work with you all.

I don’t know how I came across MaryEllen on the Internet, but when I did, after going to the WorkingMomsOnly website, it was very easy to see that MaryEllen stands out in a very special way.

Although I was afraid to take this step, there is no other person I would like to do this with more.  I had only read 2 articles on her website (that were written by her) when I quickly realized that she is a person of high integrity who not only possesses it but appreciates it in others as well.

Having a team built off of character, well, to me that is a dream come true because trust really is the basis of all good relationships!   I am so thankful to be able to work with such an amazing group of people in the days to come.

If God allows, this may be a new beginning for my children and I.  I am not the greatest when it comes to technology but I do hold a large desire within my heart.

Thank you truly for this opportunity.

Many blessings to you,
Julianne Bonczkowski

Take a look at my Success Indicator Infographic below.

Notice, some of the characteristics of unsuccessful people:

  • Criticize
  • Talk about people
  • Have a sense of entitlement

Now take a look at the characteristics of successful people:

  • Have a sense of gratitude
  • Compliment
  • Continuously learn
  • Set goals

These successful characteristics have Julianne written all over them. I am humbled and honored by her trust. I will do everything in my power to help Julianne achieve her financial and personal freedom. I will help her live a life fulfilled.

I would have appreciated CW so much more had she written to me and explained what she did for a living and offered a suggestion for improvement.  She could have followed that up with an offer from her to help. Instead she wrote a negative email that was really only a good example of what “not to do”.
