Today’s audio diary is called Praise Others.

We live in this world of self-promotion, and many times it just gets to the point where it’s way out of control. People constantly touting how wonderful they are in every single social media outlet available. So a really nice to thing to do, and something that says, “Hey, I believe there are great people out there,” is to promote somebody else without them asking.

Today, as a matter of fact, I received a book in the mail. This book is from a woman named Julie Broad, who is a wonderful real estate teacher. She teaches students how to buy real estate, and she lives in Canada. And I’ve known Julie for a really long time. She used to come to ETR conferences.

I got her book in the mail, and I was so happy for her; I’m so proud of her that I immediately took a picture of it, put it up on Facebook, and said, “I’m so proud of Julie, this is sure going to be a great read.” And then after I did that, I actually started going through the book and I looked at the very front page, which is acknowledgements. And there I was. She was acknowledging me for helping her learn through all the years of Early To Rise. I was so unbelievably touched. I didn’t even realized that when I put the book out there on my Facebook page, but I was so touched that she did that.

So it goes a long way, that also says that there are great teachers out there in fields that you cannot help people with. I mean, I’m never going to teach anybody how to buy real estate. That’s not what I do, it’s not my core competency; I would not be a good teacher for that. So Julie, who is, I’m happy to promote her.

And then again, I didn’t even realize she had acknowledged me in the book, so it worked both ways there where we’re talking about each other. And that is called reciprocity. And reciprocity really does make business go round.
